My teaching philosophy
My view on the purpose of education in a society is to provide the opportunity for people, young and old, to explore the world through different perspectives and see beyond the limitations in front of them. It is to give hope that something other than the small picture we live through day in and day out exists and is achievable and attainable only through willingness to do more.
Well in my view a teacher has a multitude of roles to play in the classroom and I say this because my personal experience as a scholar made me see the care my teachers took of their learners as a group and individually, they someone got to know us as learners and were able to see things how we do, advices us without the harshness the advice would have if it was from home.
The role of a teacher can be said to be a facilitator or mediator of a lesson, helping learners remove their ignorance, teaching them and leading them on a journey of discovery. However, a teacher plays a role of a care giver, instructor, guider, role model, a friend and more and this is different to each life you get to touch. To clarify, I would think the role of a teacher is to not just be a teacher but be a super teacher.
I believe students learn best in their own way and this can range from working individually, sharing their work with their peers through discussion either in pairs, groups or as a class as well as feedback which is constructive and positive to encourage improvement.
My goals for my students are for them to excel in their academics, to take on the world with a mind ready and willing to grab opportunities and build themselves up. I want them to not expect things to be easy or go their way that’s not what educations gives us or life in that matter. I want them to believe in themselves, have faith in the unknown, make memories and inspire those that are to follow in their paths. In short my goals for my learners is for them to excel in life inside and outside the classroom, to have values beyond materialistic gain and to always try to be helpful in any little way they can.
